Groovin The Moo

Last weekend I got media access to the sold out Groovin The Moo festival in Maitland, shooting for I’m with The Band. Silverchair headlined with mountains of support bands. You can see my complete photoset over at the I’m With The Band photo pages.

Silverchair

Standout performances for the day were:

  • Silverchair – The Boys were pumped. Dan really seemed to rock out which is good to see because I am well and truly over the whole lame-o girly stage he went through. They really seemed keen to turn it on for the hometown crowd.
  • You Am I – Always good. Always tight.

  • Airbourne– I have heard about the stage show these guys put on but never seen it live and didnt believed it was that big. The big hair, the big moves, the tiny leather jeans. So 80’s. These guys are rock and are well worth the spectacle of seeing.
  • Sneaky Sound System – Headlined the King St Hotel stage. I couldnt get near the tent but from all reports they were awesome.
  • The Porkers – I havent seen these guys play in about 2 or 3 years. Pete still goes apeshit and manages to throw in some mangy dance manouvres all through the set. Still as good as always and still a crowd favourite.

Overall the day was awesome. Maitland didnt know what hit it, the crowd was happy and there weren’t any incidents worth mentioning. Its a good sign that Groovin The Moo 2008 is going to be even bigger and better!

I was feeling a bit sorry for the dudes in the sheds next door that decided to put a rooster show and shine on. Arrived in the morning to a cock-a-doodle-do and thought WTF?????? There were a few Mr Cranky’s in that shed. I’m pretty sure they didnt hang around.

The Morning After Girls were lucky to make it to the show. While driving up listening to Triple J a call went out to see if anyone could give the boys a lift. Talk about cutting it fine! They obviously made it though.
